R&D Senior Chemist
Main Purpose of the Job
The individual will be responsible for various aspects of product development and manufacturing, ensuring the successful execution of large-scale batch manufacturing and new product launches. This involves collaborating closely with the Compounding department to oversee large-scale batch manufacturing and new product launches. Responsibilities include preparing and documenting experimental lab batches, reviewing and developing specifications for formulations, and conducting analytical testing to ensure product quality. The role also involves providing production support, troubleshooting technical issues, and maintaining equipment cleanliness. Additionally, the individual is expected to assist in various R&D-related lab work and contribute to the overall progress of research and development activities.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as the technical lead in R&D working closely with Compounding department to execute large scale batch manufacturing and new product launch manufacturing
- Prepare and document all experimental lab batches
- Review and develop specifications for existing formulations and new developments
- Perform and record all analytical testing based on product’s specification and written procedures
- Review and sign production batch cards
- Support the production process, evaluating technical issues, troubleshooting and providing recommendations for corrective actions
- Maintain the cleanliness and sanitary conditions of laboratory equipment, instruments, and working stations
- Assist in various R&D related lab work as required
Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in cosmetic formulation, batch checking and adjusting
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of raw materials function, application, and related processing technologies
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of analytical instruments and equipment for conducting physical and chemical testing of cosmetic products
- Strong color matching skills
- Excellent organizational, communication and computer literacy skills
- Strong leadership initiative, is resourceful and solution oriented
- Willingness to coach and transfer knowledge to more junior staff
- Good understanding on product development, performance evaluation, and market trends
